Event View

The live event view is your window into an active MAGK event. It shows the tactical map with real-time player positions, team scores, and event status — all accessible from your browser without a TAK client.

Accessing the Event View

There are two ways to open the live event view:

  • Public link — Your organizer shares a URL like https://magktech.com/events/spring-exercise-2025/live. No login required.
  • From the platform — Log in and navigate to Events → select your event → Live View.

The public link is useful for spectators, support staff, or anyone who wants to follow the event without a TAK client.

Tactical Map

The tactical map is the centerpiece of the event view. It displays a real-time overhead view of the event area with player positions, objectives, and overlays.

What's on the Map

Element Description
Player markers Real-time positions of connected TAK clients, color-coded by team affiliation
Node markers MAGK Node device locations showing current capture status
Objective markers Mission objectives placed by the organizer
Overlays Boundary lines, mission areas, and other geographic overlays defined by the organizer
Team trails Optional movement trails showing recent player paths

Marker Colors

Player and team markers follow standard tactical affiliation colors:

Color Meaning
Blue Friendly forces (your team)
Red Hostile forces (opposing teams)
Green Neutral entities
Yellow Unknown affiliation

Visibility Rules

Depending on event settings, you may not see all players on the map. Organizers can configure visibility rules that limit what each team can see — for example, hiding opposing team positions to create fog-of-war gameplay.

Map Layers

Switch between map views using the layer control in the top-right corner of the map:

Layer Description
Street Standard road and terrain map (default)
Satellite Aerial/satellite imagery
Hybrid Satellite imagery with road and label overlays

Scoreboard

The scoreboard displays current team standings and individual scores for the active event.

Team Standings

Column Description
Rank Current position based on total points
Team Team name and color indicator
Points Total accumulated score
Captures Number of node captures
Objectives Completed mission objectives

Score Updates

Scores update in real time as events happen in the field:

  • Node captures — Points awarded when a team captures a MAGK Node device
  • Objective completions — Points for completing mission objectives
  • Time-based scoring — Points accumulated over time for holding objectives (depends on game mode)

The scoreboard refreshes automatically — no need to reload the page.

Event Status

The event view header shows the current event status and key information:

Field Description
Event Name The name of the active event
Status Current event status (Draft, Registration Open, Registration Closed, Staging, Active, Paused, Completed, Cancelled)
Time Remaining Countdown to the event end time (if set)
Connected Players Number of TAK clients currently connected
Teams Number of teams participating

Using the Event View on Mobile

The event view is fully responsive. On mobile devices:

  • The tactical map fills the screen with floating controls
  • Tap a marker to see player or node details in a popup
  • Swipe up from the bottom to reveal the scoreboard panel
  • The scoreboard collapses to a compact summary bar when not expanded
